Most people are told it's genetics.
Genes matter, but they aren't the whole story. The research I read keeps pointing back to how the face grows and how it's used. Here's the short version of what I teach.
Function shapes structure
Breathing, chewing and tongue posture during growth have a large influence on how the jaw develops. That's why faces can differ even between people with very similar genes.
Adults play by different rules
The sutures in the face mature with age. That's why adult expansion usually means bone-anchored appliances like MARPE, or surgery, rather than the devices used in kids.
Treatment changes the face
Orthodontics, extractions and expansion don't just move teeth. They can change facial structure too, which is why the questions you ask beforehand matter so much.
I got into this the way most people do: looking in the mirror and finding nothing but conflicting advice online.
I'm Amin, a psychobiology student at the University of Amsterdam. Instead of trusting forum threads, I started reading the actual papers. What I found changed how I see faces, teeth and breathing, and it's what my videos are about.
Now I'm going through palate expansion myself, and I'm documenting all of it openly, not just the highlight reel.

What to ask your orthodontist before expansion
The questions I wish I'd known to ask, so you can tell a careful provider from a rushed one before you commit.
Q1Are you a doctor? Can you diagnose me?
No. I'm a psychobiology student and educator, not a dentist, orthodontist or doctor. I can't diagnose you or tell you which treatment to get. I help you understand the options and the research, so your conversations with qualified providers are more useful.
Q2Is it too late to change my jaw as an adult?
Adults have fewer options than growing children, because the sutures in the face mature with age. That's why adult expansion often involves bone-anchored appliances like MARPE, or surgery. What's realistic depends on your individual anatomy, which only a clinician with proper imaging can assess.
Q3MARPE, MSE or jaw surgery — what's the difference?
They differ in how they expand, how much they can achieve and who they suit. Inside the community I break each one down, including my own experience, so you know what to ask your provider.
Q4Is facial structure just genetics?
Genetics plays a role, but research suggests that environment and function, like breathing, chewing and posture during growth, have a large influence on how the jaw develops. That's the core idea behind most of my content.
Q5What's included in the community?
Structured lessons, case studies including my own expansion, an onboarding call with me, and direct messages for questions. New lessons are added based on what members need.
Q6Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Membership is monthly through Skool and you can cancel whenever you want.
